19 Dec Saturday shopping and the beach

So a normal Saturday here in sunny south africa, great weather and a wind free day. I have just returned from the normal shopping trip on Saturday to get some nice fresh bread as we normally have cold meats and salads with a nice crusty ciabatta. I must say that this is no easy task we just do not seem to have a nice dedicated bakery, all we have is the supermarket bakeries which seem to only know how to make mass produced as I call it “air bread”. It is times like this that I wish I lived in that French village on the slopes of ghe French alps. Anyway found some ok ciabatta and had our cold chicken, beef open sandwich’s. I had also prepared a gammon and am waiting for that to cook. The idea being that we have it sliced cold for lunches next week. I am also using it as a test run for our Christmas lunch as I will be cooking a full lunch on Christmas day for a few friends. I am posting the pictures and recipes on my food blog.
Well let me go and check the ham.
